Railroads asked about hauling grain by trucks in Nebraska
The State Railway Commission telegraphed four railroads serving Nebraska asking whether they will seek authority to substitute trucks for rail cars to haul grain. Chairman John W Swanson said the messages went to Northwestern Union Pacific Missouri Pacific and Burlington Northern. GOCA to Receive Over $2.5 Million in Federal Funding

Violas Schoefauer Found Dead at Home
Violas Schoefauer known as Violas Schornauer was found dead at his Newman Grove home last weekend by a son. He was a former Columbus Telegram employee who retired years ago. Graveside services were held Monday at Pleasant View Cemetery near Plainview with Rev. Fred C. Gardner officiating. Survivors include three sons Orvit of Brunswick Gene and Cleon of Plainview and several grandchildren.
