Court extends civil rights to private schools for blacks

Fourth of July plans for Columbus observance announced

Planners outline a July Fourth program in Columbus starting at 7 p.m. in Frankfort Square then moving to Agricultural Park at 10 p.m. Time capsule will be opened for bolts tightening and items from today may be added. Funds are being raised for fireworks with several baseball games scheduled in Pawnee Park.

Indians mark Custer battle centennial at battlefield

Indians and tribal leaders gathered at sunrise around relics at the Custer Battlefield in Montana to honor the 1876 clash. They recalled 264 7th Cavalry deaths and 45 Indian deaths and urged rights protection and treaty compliance amid calls to curb mineral leases and sacred lands.

Ambulance rules delayed beyond July first in Nebraska

Nebraska Health Department delays July 1 implementation of proposed ambulance and rescue service regulations. The 1975 LB418 law created the Ambulance Advisors Board to review rules adopted April 7 1976. Public hearings were held May 10 in Lincoln and May 12 in Grand Island with comments requested by June 25. The board meets June 30 to review testimony before further action.

Kingsley Dam eyed for wind mill project

The Kingsley Dam at Ogallala is among 17 sites nationwide from which four will be chosen to install large wind mills. The experiment aims to generate enough electricity to power dozens of homes and the generators are planned for installation in 1977 and 1978 as part of a nationwide project.

FreedomFest 76 sober celebration draws 35000 at stadium

About 35 000 ex drunks and ex addicts and their friends will gather at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington Minnesota for FreedomFest 76 a Bicentennial event selling only coffee and soda. Platte College Sets Summer Term Start July 1

Formal registration for summer classes opens next week with in person slots on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 8 am to 3 pm. Academic Counselor Norris Augustin notes students can contact the Student Service Office at PTCC to hold class cards if they cannot register on the given days and that registration can be completed on July 1 before class attendance.
