Stuart man named commander at Nebraska VFW convention
Wayne Andersen 48 of Stuart was elected commander of the Nebraska Veterans of Foreign Wars at the 17th annual Columbus convention. The former Marine fighter pilot and 20 year veteran retires as a lieutenant colonel in 1971 and now teaches and ranches in Stuart. More than 500 attended as Robert Lowe of Norfolk was named national VFW director of research and development. Delegates passed 41 resolutions on funding, health insurance, education, unemployment, and military training, among others, with a notable rebuke of the Nebraska Legislature for vetoing a veterans aid bill.
