Cathy Curry captured her third consecutive Junior Girls State Golf Tour title at Lochland Country Club by defeating Jan Stanard of Aurora 6-5 after reaching the finals with a 64 semifinal win over Liz Weekes of South Sioux City. Stanard beat Robin Scherer of West Point 2-0 in the other semifinal. Denise Thomsen of Columbus dropped to the consolation bracket after a 2-1 loss to Susan Marchese of Omaha.

In a tight Junior Legion game between Columbus and Schuyler, Scott Foutell pitched a 2-1 Columbus victory. Foutell allowed one run, collected the only Columbus hits, and improved the club to 7-4 with two league games ahead. Schuyler’s lone run came on a sequence in the fifth inning.
