Singlaub faced reassignment. Armand Hammer cites Romania’s coal deal with Island Creek. The author jokes about upside‑down logic.

Mother-in-law of singer found dead in Las Vegas home
Pearl Manzie, 57, Barbara McNair’s mother-in-law, was found dead Monday in the same house where McNair’s husband Rick Manzie was shot six months earlier. Police said she had been despondent since her son’s death, an autopsy was ordered, and the death appeared natural. Rick Manzie, 36, was shot in his dressing room December 14 in an unsolved killing linked to Chicago mobsters slain in July 1974.
