Southeast Floods in Panhandle and Rivers Beset Florida

Heavy rains and storms spread across the Southeast causing floods in Florida's Panhandle. The Blackwater River overflowed as Yellow and Escambia rose, with North Milton evacuations and eight feet of water on Blackwater roadways. Other floods hit Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas. Tornadoes sighted near Pascagoula, Kentucky, and Missouri.

Kimball Man Dies From Gun Wound Near Club

A 23-year-old Kimball man named Bill Anderson was found dead of a chest wound late Thursday afternoon about a half mile east of the Kimball Country Club. Sheriff Merle Barker identified the victim. Clarence Molter discovered the body near a motorcycle. Authorities suspect despondency over a recent divorce, with ex-wife in Denver.

Niobrara Park to Stay Open Until Flooded Out

State Game Commission Director Willard Barbee said Niobrara Park will operate only until it is flooded out of business. Kearney State students petition Lincoln for college funds
