Arabs Pursue U.S. Degrees Amid Education Surge
Washington reports a surge in Arab and Iranian students entering American universities, rising from about 10,000 in 1965 to 25,467 in the current year, with projections near 35,000 in 1976. Oil wealth and renewed ties with the United States drive demand for engineering and sciences, funded by both governments and private sources. Washington Irving's early travels are noted as a misplaced aside.
