State study finds aging Nebraska accounting system in peril
A nine member team led by State Accountant George E. Shute finds Nebraska's 9 year old general accounting system overburdened and at risk of collapse within three to four years. It blocks $22 million in investments and $100,000 in vendor discounts annually. They urge a modified system costing $750,000 to $1.2 million, aiming for July 1, 1977. The plan includes cash management reforms, centralized accounts receivable, and faster processing to avert further losses.
