Federal Power Commission Sets New Gas Price Ceiling
The Federal Power Commission raised interstate natural gas rates after a two year review. The new ceiling for gas headed interstate after January 1, 1975 is 1.42 per thousand cubic feet with 0.91 for gas from 1973 to 1974. Some contracts with renewal clauses may allow increases. Commissioner Don Smith dissented, calling the rise excessive and noting 1.3 billion in added costs in the first year.
