In San Dingo Uru Montgomery Junior High pilots a reading laboratory to boost literacy by using United Press International teleprinter outputs. Teachers Jerry Schwartz and Duane Maley say the program motivates reluctant readers through sports materials, language tools, and hands on activities.
An arrest warrant was issued for Omaha attorney Joseph Savin after he failed to appear in court on a charge of embezzling 16040 dollars from a guardianship fund. Douglas County Attorney Donald Knowles alleged Savin unlawfully converted guardianship assets of Barbara Jean Maddox while acting as her attorney in Omaha. The embezzlement was supposedly from an Omaha bank early last year.
