An 83 year old Omaha woman became a victim of the bank examiner con game after a caller posed as a police detective and later another officer. She withdrew $10,000 then $5 40 more under the ruse and the fraudsters used a connected phone line to repeat the call. Police urged awareness to avoid similar schemes.

Exterminators Face Involuntary Manslaughter Charge
Two exterminators Daniel Coate and Gerald Vingo of Colonial Pest Control Co faced involuntary manslaughter charges after a termite fumigation at a La Puente area home. Nelson Pineda died from fumes though no one answered the door. They were released on $1,000 bail and set for a preliminary hearing in South Bay Municipal Court.
