Egypt says commandos hit Israeli Sinai peninsula

Egypt claims its commandos crossed into the Sinai Peninsula during the night and inflicted heavy losses on Israeli forces. Israel denied any raid, but said its troops moved into Jordan and Lebanon. Reports also note air battles, casualties on both sides, and U.S. aid including F4 Phantom fighters and radar jamming gear.

Funeral services were held Saturday for Matilda Jacobsen 92 a former Newman Grove resident who died Tuesday in a Chula Vista California hospital. Black group seizes Oklahoma City radio station KBYE takeover

In Oklahoma City during the weekend a Black group took control of KBYE causing the station to go off air. Civil rights leader Clara Luper condemned the action while station attorney John A. Clara alleged foul play and warned of lingering racial tensions. The interruption included staff resignations and a mural program before protesters entered the studio and broadcast was halted.

Suspect Held in Death of Woman and Her Two Daughters

A maintenance worker Gerard Trent Jr. 28 held on suspicion of murdering Mrs. Carolyn Stafford 97 and her daughters Julie 8 and Cara Lynn 17 in their Wilshire District home. Police described the killings as a copycat bludgeoning linked to earlier attacks in San Gabriel and Inglewood with several weapons impounded and inconsistencies in Trent’s statements.

Italian swimmer completes 74 mile Adriatic crossing

Venetia based 27 year old Mavio Bergamini swam the 74 miles from Trieste to Venice in 33 hours 27 minutes. He was aided by bears sounding horns and consumed seven eggs along the journey. During rests in the water he ate steak pounds soup gallons tea and a dish of spaghetti.

Final rites for Mollie Miller held at St Mary Church

Funeral services for Mollie Miller of Schuyler were held at 9 39 a m at St Mary Catholic Church with Rev Victor Herman officiating and Schuyler Cemetery burial. Born November 11 1891 in Dodge she was married to Louie Miller and later moved to Schuyler in 1934. Survivors include daughter Trudy Spalz son-in-law Clarence Miller seven grandchildren five great grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Clarence.

Father of kidnapped girl writes letter to abductor

Max Munningham former mayor of Lansing writes an open plea to the kidnapper of his daughter Laurie seeking her safe release. Police reported no concrete leads as roadblocks were set and two young men admitted their sighting reports were a hoax. Laurie Murninghan vanished Thursday afternoon from a gift shop where she worked as a clerk after a man who robbed $60 fled. The description given: a Black man 2 to 2 1/2 inches tall with a mustache and goatee.
