Columbus residents Mr. and Mrs. Pete W Lakers celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with planned weekend activities. Their May 31 anniversary was postponed to enable all family members to attend.
Nancy Deckert, daughter of Mr and Mrs Archie Deckert, came back last week from the 28th annual 100F Rebekah Odd Fellows United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth. The Nebraska delegation joined 1,000 youths in New York for a six day UN study and tours of Rockefeller Center and the Statue of Liberty amid other historic sites. A public reception is planned at the Holiday Inn courtyard with relatives invited to attend without gifts.
A collection of reader tips on reuse and simple crafts includes making wristlets from old socks, slicing pineapple in the can, reusing greeting card envelopes for mail and notes, turning a milk carton into a pull toy, and cutting down rubber boots into a rain pair.
Twenty four of the 72 members of the Columbus flan graduating class and their spouses enjoyed a social hour and dinner Saturday at the Elks Country Club. On Sunday they met again for breakfast in the Holiday Tan courtyard with several Columbus attendees listed among the group.
Sixty eight members and guests attended a salad luncheon in the church fellowship hall. Tables were decorated by Mrs Lawrence Nyffeler Mrs Isabelle Treinies and Mrs Marie Raymond. New member Mrs John Badie was welcomed as Vice President Pearl Waldman led in devotions in President Martha Larimore's absence. Special awards went to Mrs Glen Preston and Mrs Ernest Greiner.
Mr and Mrs Bob Clark celebrate 25 years of marriage at a Sunday ceremony, July 17, at the Church of Christ. Open house to follow from 2 to 4 p m hosted by their children and relatives.

About 150 attended the Kong Keimig gathering at St Rose of Lima parish hall Genoa for a noon covered dish meal. Hosts were Gerard Kone and Leroy Konz with guests from multiple states including Henry Widhaim Belvidere Hl Mary Kenz Columbus and John Lamberty Atlantic Iowa. Relatives came from California Wyoming Minnesota South Dakota Missouri Illinois Virginia and many Nebraska towns.
Miss Alvara Ramm was installed Monday night as president of the American Legion Auxiliary Hartman Unit a4. Installing officer was Mrs Otto F Walter who helped organize the local auxiliary in 1920 and was its first president serving two terms 20 22. The program featured 1977 Girls Staters Kathy Lindhorst Carol Rush Julie Bevkenhauser Donna Prososki Kris Krumland Cheryl Oppliger. Kathleen Watson and Harry Willis wed in Fairfax Virginia June 14.
