Kennedy Ordered CIA Plan To Dispose Of Castro
Retired Major General Edward Lansdale says President Kennedy ordered the CIA to devise plans to remove Castro in 1961 62 including possible assassination. Lansdale told the Washington Star that Kennedy never used the word assassination but described overthrow and disposal as the project. A former CIA official says Kennedy bypassed agency channels due to distrust of CIA leadership amid Bay of Pigs fallout. The Senate inquiry has heard testimony from Mafia figure John Roselli about dealings with Harvey and CIA contacts in attempts to kill Castro. Harvey testified before the Church Committee seeking details on CIA actions.
