Nebraska Guard Faces Units Below 80 Percent Strength
Ten Nebraska Army National Guard units may be relocated or deactivated this summer if recruitment does not boost numbers. The 134th Infantry in Columbus is about 60 personnel short, standing at roughly 60.2 percent strength, with full strength at 161 men and current estimates near 95. The statewide force sits at about 90.3 percent of nearly 4,500 authorized, with 430 more recruits needed. Midday temperatures reached the 50s to low 60s, with wes t northwest winds gusting in western areas and highs Thursday ranging 40 to 55 across cities like North Platte and Omaha.
