Italian cobbler and weaver watch Mills Bill in Congress

In Rome, Italian workers such as cobblers and weavers follow the Mills Bill debate in the U.S. Congress. They fear tariffs on textiles and shoes could hurt Italian exports valued at about 200 million dollars yearly, with 174 million from shoes. Some seek new markets while officials discuss potential retaliatory measures. The Mills Bill, led by Wilbur Mills, aims to raise duties to protect American makers as unemployment fears surge in Southern textile and New England factories.
