Gershwin tribute on NBC falls short of its promise
HOLLYWOOD UPI NBC TV Sunday night offered a 29 minute Gershwin tribute hosted by Jack Lemmon with stars like Fred Astaire Peter Nero Robert Guillaume Leslie Uggams and Ethel Merman. Despite fine music the show lacked a unifying theme and inner continuity leaving many numbers as standalone performances. A separate Bob Hope Christmas special followed with the usual format and strong likely ratings.
