A 160 foot American oil tanker with eight crewmen aboard broke in two off Cape Ann near Gloucester Massachusetts. Coast Guard reports the split occurred about 10 36 a m in 25 foot seas with 35 knot winds. The vessel owned by Chester Poling Transportation Co of New York City carried no oil on board.

Ivan Rogalsky a 34 year old resident alien of Jackson Township New Jersey was arrested Friday night on espionage and conspiracy charges. He allegedly sought to obtain documents to pass to Yevgeniy Karpov a Soviet official and suspected intelligence agent. Rogalsky was arraigned before U S Magistrate William Hunt and held without bail with a temporary public defender appointed as he is unemployed and indigent. FBI agents arrested him in Lakewood New Jersey.
