Crossroads dedication recalled on city hall auditorium

The article recalls Lawrence Welk’s 1935 dedication dance for Columbus city hall and auditorium, the Delphians and other groups funding a 17 by 21 foot terrazo floor map titled America’s Crossroad. It notes the floor’s donors, quarried marble chips, and the long community effort from 1926 to 1935 led by the Delphians and firemen to beautify the entrance.

Nebraska Public Power District aims to build Gerald Gentleman Station Unit No. 2 with EPA approval pending. Lifejackets found linked to vanished tanker Grand Zenith off Cape Cod

Two orange Grand Zenith lifejackets were found 300 miles east of Cape Cod, the first confirmed debris from the 642-foot Panamanian tanker carrying 8.2 million gallons of industrial fuel for a Massachusetts power plant. The 38 crew, all believed lost, were last heard from nine days ago amid heavy seas north of Nova Scotia.
