Outstanding Officer Award Presented to Mielak in Columbus
Mielak Robert Mielak a 25 year Columbus Police Department veteran received the Outstanding Officer Award at a ceremony. The event included a plaque and certificate from American Legion Hartman Post 84 and a permanent inscription on a city plaque. Francis McMahon retired to pay tribute, with Mayor George Johansen and others attending District 7 Legion events. Dennis Matson served as master of ceremonies as Rev. Donald Brooks gave invocations and the Apollo Club provided entertainment.

Platte's chorale groups the Chorale and Cantari plan a busy tour across Nebraska. Director John A wer Canter kicks off with a February 15 appearance at Rising City High School, followed by more than 30 Nebraska high schools. A reunion is set for 3 p.m. March 27 at PTCC's Fine Arts Center Theater with Cantari members including Chris Runge.
