The group decided to have girls attend the next meeting and expressed interest in attending Girls State next summer. Lunch was served by several members. Visitors from Englewood and Lees Summit arrived to visit relatives.
Salina Kans Salina South High School lineman Jon Kroneberger an all state football tackle signed a letter of intent with the University of Nebraska Nebraska coach Tom Osborne witnessed the ceremony Kroneberger had drawn interest from several major programs and was recruited by multiple schools.

A 21 year old Cambodian soldier with a grenade lodged in his jaw underwent a field style operation on a Phnom Penh soccer field. The M79 round did not explode after striking his cheek and barely lodged in bone. Military observers including families watched as surgeons removed the live device.
In Kearney Nebraska a couple whose house burned earlier this month lost most possessions again when a second fire struck Tuesday morning. Mr and Mrs Bernard Kersting had salvaged items from the first blaze stored at a brother’s Odessa home, which was heavily damaged in the latest fire.
Hearst family received a tape recording in which Patricia Hearst, the 19 year old newspaper heiress abducted by the Symbionese Liberation Army, says she is well. The message links her abduction to crimes by her mother Catherine and Randolph Hearst. The letter accompanies a demand for aid to California's poor and aged.
Lincoln Nebraska AP reports the Legislature trimmed Senator Jerome Warner's plan to boost state aid for education from 55 million to a $110 million to $120 million range for next year. The vote leaves school spending limits undecided for now.
