Conestoga wagon and horse shaped early American trade
The Conestoga wagon and a bred horse emerged in Lancaster County to haul crops to Philadelphia and support early industry. Unique features included a 16 foot bed, a center sag, 24 foot canvas canopies, and left side driving. Horses pulled six ton loads and carried bells as identification. Ben Franklin helped deploy fleets for Revolutionary needs and the wagon aided Valley Forge supplies and a French funded silver loan of six hundred thousand dollars.
