Would-be hijacker surrenders after 14 hour San Francisco plot
A mentally disturbed United Airlines mechanic turned his gun over to a friend and surrendered after 14 hours aboard a grounded DC8 at San Francisco International Airport. Richard Funk, 38, had been demanding food brandy fuel and maps of the United States plus a crew, while FBI marksmen and SWAT surrounded the hangar. Dr Morris Brock spoke with him and he finally released hostages and demanded safe passage to his car.
