Audubon seeks river land for Nebraska sanctuary
The Lincoln Nebrea Supreme Court rulings recount a series of cases. The report notes the high court refused to disturb a 3-to-0 prison sentence for a 19-year-old Omaha youth convicted of assault with intent to inflict great bodily harm. Additional opinions upheld damages awards, denied post conviction relief, and dismissed other cases. Separate item: the Audubon Society in Alma Kansas seeks to acquire land for a 125 acre wildlife sanctuary along the Platte River south of Gibbon Nebraska. The group aims to expand holdings to provide waterfowl habitat and environmental education programs, with sanctuary dedication planned for March.
