Profile: Arthur Burns The Reflections Of A Prairie Banker
Washington economist Arthur Burns, 73, blends a pipe and calm humor with sharp policy insight. The Federal Reserve chairman recalls family, early trades, and a life shaped by studying cycles and the Bible. He worries about debt, trust, and the nation’s moral fabric while preparing for a possible new term under President Carter.
