Bids for a major addition and renovation at Columbus Community Hospital totaled under 2 million by about 14 percent, with apparent low bids in general construction 1 030 000, mechanical 574 890 and electrical 389 500. The project includes an emergency outpatient area ICU CCU beds obstetrics expansion and remodel of the Old Lutheran building along with new support facilities. A 102 000 pledge was received toward the expansion and funds can be mailed to Columbus Community Hospital Expansion Project Box 1154 Columbus Nebraska 68601.

City seeks HUD funds for water sewer lines and parks
Columbus City Council approved applying for Housing and Urban Development funds to extend water and sewer lines to 12th and 21st Avenues and 21st to 23rd Avenues at a total project cost of 210000, and for development money for Centennial Park at an estimated 228690. Global grain harvest outlook improves with 42 percent rise
The Agriculture Department said world grain reserves will grow by 46.1 million metric tons, up 42 percent from July, driven by higher harvests in the United States the Soviet Union Europe and Australia. Wheat stocks lead the increase with mid 1977 projections near 104 million tons, while total carryovers could reach 156.2 million tons.

Power outage plan for northwest Columbus district
Loup Power District will change transformers to raise primary voltage in the Columbus area from 26th Avenue to 32nd Avenue and 27th to 32nd Streets. Personal income up in November on manufacturing gains
UPI reports the Commerce Department found personal income rose by $15 billion in November to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.417 trillion. Manufacturing payrolls climbed by $4.5 billion led by transportation equipment, reflecting post strike activity. Private wages and salaries rose $8.7 billion and commodity producers added $5.2 billion.
