School boards meet Monday in Columbus and Lakeview

Two local boards of education meet Monday night. Columbus City Schools convene at 7 30 pm in the administration building to discuss seventh grade basketball committee, foreign student, administrative structure, make up days, mid term graduation policy, and approval of graduates. Lakeview board meets at 8 pm to discuss vocational education advisory council, grading policy review, and coordinated elementary programs report.

Americans Leave Mexican Jails In Historic Prisoner Swap

Sixty Americans, the first of at least 27, were flown from Mexico City to Lindbergh Field and released into U.S. custody. The 35 men and 26 women, aged 20 to 61, face parole or hearings within weeks, with many detained for drug offenses and some murderers among the group. United States Ambassador Lucey called the exchange historic as families gathered at the field, while some prisoners and relatives voiced mixed reactions to the deal.

Meeting on farm strike attracts crowd of 150
