Bergland supports but doubts main goal of farm strike
Agriculture Secretary Bergland said he backs the American Agriculture Movement's parity aims yet doubts the Dec. 14 strike can guarantee 100 percent parity. He warned against a guaranteed cost of production, citing potential 10 percent land inflation and higher production costs, and urged competitive grain storage rates while ordering a study on corporate farming's impact on family farms.

Regents may not need to act on grants
Lincoln Nebraska regents likely will not decide on continuing federal incentives for foreign-trained medical students at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. A congressional bill to repeal the law requiring admission of students from foreign schools could remove the issue from their agenda. Governor Exon may attend if the summit is public, while a letter from Senator Chambers questions the secrecy of the talks.

Abortion policy in Nebraka will not affect state
Nebraska Welfare Director Eldin Ehrlich said the Senate House compromise on Medicaid financed abortions will have no effect in Nebraska. He noted a Sept. 6 state policy mirrors the federal law allowing public abortion funding only when two doctors certify danger to the mother's life or in cases of rape or incest reported to authorities. He estimated Nebraska paid for only one abortion since implementing the system, with 512 abortions funded through Medicaid in 1976.
