Co op merger looms in Kansas City farm sector
The Farmland Industries and Far-Mar-Co merger would create a $3 billion annual sales giant, expanding grain pricing power and foreign markets. Key executives say 96 percent of Far-Mar-Co members also belong to Farmland, easing approval. Farmland, based in Kansas City, runs petroleum, feed, fertilizer and more. Far-Mar-Co operates in eight Midwest states with about $1 billion in last year’s sales.
