Livestock prices and bid activity from Columbus Nebraska show hogs mostly steady to higher with several weight classes quoted from 38.00 to 40.25 per cwt and sows 39.25 to 34.00. Cattle and calves supply moderate with steer and heifer prices 27.00 to 38.75, cows 13.00 to 17.00. Trade uncertain. Chicago Board of Trade futures also referenced.
Washington AP reports President Ford will seek new antirecession legislation and move toward a mandatory energy conservation program early next year. White House press spokesman Rott Nessen called the 6.5 percent unemployment rate a source of great concern and said the economic situation is under review.

St Luke Church invites all women of the parish to a December 1 Christmas dinner at 1 p.m with a bring eight covered dishes and guest. Platte College Chorale performs at 2 p.m. A Silver Spur-Saddle Club Christmas party is at 6 p.m. Saturday in Platte Center Auditorium. Elks and Country Club members and guests are invited to a Newcomers Chin dance tonight. A bake sale starts Saturday at 9 a.m. in the U.S. 30 center mall, sponsored by Impmanual Lutheran PTO ABWA meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at NPPD.
Shelby community hosts a string of visitors from Denver Omaha and other towns over the weekend. Families including Yeutter Dunning Funkhouser Mahnken Hiemer and others joined gatherings in Osceola Moline and Shelby areas. Local events include a Legion Hall reception for Denver guests and multiple visits, weddings, and church activities.
