NFO convention opens amid farm price protests
The National Farmers Organization launches its 19th annual convention in Missouri with Oren Lee Staley urging farmers to move from defense to offense against low profits. He cites a 20 percent profit drop in dairy and livestock, notes high retail prices, and promises a plan to withhold products if legal. The SEC has filed suits, but Staley says the group has met the challenge, aided by a $4 million September fundraiser.
