Big Rebuild Costs for NPPD and Utilities

Ron Bogus of Nebraska Public Power District told Sertoma Club that the Big Rebuild cost about 15 million for NPPD and another 10 million by other utilities. The project followed the March 29 1976 ice snow wind storm that felled 6600 poles and damaged a 345 kilovolt line from Sheldon Station to Grand Island. Private contractors aided the effort and a giant helicopter, used at 3600 dollars per hour for 100 hours, helped speed restoration before the summer peak.
