Area resident dies in Sunday accident
Three people were killed in Nebraska traffic crashes over the weekend. Helen Johnson 76 of Newman was listed in satisfactory condition with injuries. Kim Andrews 15 of Randolph died in a one car crash near Randolph when the car veered into a ditch and rolled. Steve Chagnon 21 of Hastings was killed when he appeared to be struck by a backing truck near the Hastings City Auditorium where a concert was held.

Court rules oil tariff fees unconstitutional
A federal appeals court ruled the administration's program to oil imports by imposing tariff fees unconstitutional. The three judge panel found the President and the Federal Energy Administration lacked authority to impose the license fees. The suit was brought by eight states their governors and 10 utility companies challenging Ford's Jan 23 1975 order raising import fees on crude oil and petroleum products.

Youths Gain Summer Work Through YCC Environmental Corps
Two Columbus youths 17 year old lazy Toof and Peggy Chestnut joined the Bureau of Reclamation Youth Conservation Corps for eight weeks. They worked at Willow Dam Hugh Butler Lake Enders Dam and other sites in Kansas and Nebraska. The program combined outdoor labor with environmental education and group living on the McCook College Campus.
