Campaign '76 Warhorses await lightning from convention
Senators Hubert Humphrey Edward Muskie and George McGovern, aging Democratic figures, plan to stay out of primaries while counting on a possible brokered convention. Analysts expect four to six candidates at the July 12 convention, with Humphrey seen as the most likely nominee if offered. Muskie and McGovern also weigh their chances, but all three aim to be on hand in the convention city whether as leaders or potential dark horses.

State tests case in trial of Joan Little
In Raleigh North Carolina UPI reports defense attorneys won a key ruling. Judge Hobgood found insufficient evidence to support a first degree murder verdict, reducing charges to second degree murder or voluntary manslaughter for Joan Little who killed her jailed white guard.
