Three Traffic Deaths Reported In Monday Crashes
United Press reports three fatal incidents involving Palisade and York area drivers. A Palisade woman died after falling from a pickup tailgate, Franklin Gove was injured in the same crash, and 23-year-old Steve Paulson died from injuries in Alliance. Karen Ingert, 19, of Aurora, died in a two car collision near York, with Cindy, 22, a passenger, hospitalized. Also appears a notice of incorporation for Farmers Hog Company Inc, dated July 20, 1976, listing a board and by laws.

FTC to probe drug pricing by brand name use
The Federal Trade Commission announced it will investigate whether consumers pay too much for drugs prescribed by brand names over generics. It may question manufacturers processors distributors doctors pharmacists and professional groups about drugs produced by multiple companies. Americans spend about 3 billion dollars annually on such drugs. The agency seeks to determine if pharmacists can select lower cost sources.

Federal escapee held on South Dakota kidnap charges
Magistrate C. Peck set August 10 for a removal hearing for a prison escapee charged in South Dakota with abducting a 13 year old girl from Flandreau on July 17. The suspect fled from a federal prison April 29 and was later arrested after a chase near Omaha. The FBI said the girl was assaulted during moves from Sioux Falls to Sioux City to Omaha while the suspect sought marked bills.
