Columbus High senior joins Marines inspires dozen recruits
Kevin Florendo 18, son of Mr and Mrs Jack Florendo of 1745 45th Ave Columbus, enlisted for four years. His enlistment spurred six classmates to join, then five more, totaling 12 seniors ready for recruit training after graduation. The group challenged the Bicentennial Wagon Train to a softball game, which was accepted. Major P H Torrey presented a Letter and Certificate of Appreciation.
