Senators Debate State Aid to Education Opens
The annual debate on state aid to education began April 5 with Sen. Donald Dworak stating prior votes on at least three plans in three years. He notes the November 1974 ballot proposition was defeated 2 to 1 and says arguments for and against the aid have not changed. He argues the current bill does not guarantee property tax relief.

Litter bill survives despite opposition in Nebraska legislature

Senator Larry Stoney defended LB114 as effective anti litter policy, while opponents like Senator Ernest Chambers argued it abuses youths and concerns about enforcement and officer workload were raised. The debate extended into other topics and a decline in school funding rhetoric appeared in adjacent notes.
