Shelby church Holy Week services announced

The United Methodist Church in Shelby lists Holy Week events including open Communion at 10 p.m. Thursday and services of darkness with the Junior YF on Friday. Sunrise services start 6:30 a.m. Sunday, breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by 10:30 a.m. worship. Reverend Kenneth Edmonds and family will be vacationing April 21 through May 17. Reverend Truman Bachenburg of Osceola will cover in his absence. Outside, United Parcel Service plans a $24 million build in South Omaha Industrial Park, purchasing a 7acre tract.

David City Board names Glock new elementary principal

David City Public Schools elected Mrs. Donald Glock as principal of the elementary, to start in August, succeeding Mrs. Helen Hinze. Resignations included Mrs. Vern Blevins the hot lunch manager and Miss Rosemary Oborny the high school secretary. The board set a 1974-75 calendar with workshop days and key holidays, approved a painting contract for the high school, and noted a natural gas price change effective April 30, 1874.

Wayne State College Plans Weekend Courses in Columbus

Wayne State College will offer a new weekend course titled Career School at the Holiday Inn in Columbus. The program opens April 26 and 27 and ends May 95 with Dr. Hobert Tembke leading the Wayne State education faculty and offering two graduate credits. Columbus will also host an off campus class in Think Metric July 12 to 14. Loren Karnish, director of continuing education at Wayne Stater, provides full information.

Nebraska Ruralism champions honor Leigh St Francis students

Three Nebraska high schools won sweepstakes at the Nebraska Ruralism championships. Lincoln Southeast claimed Clas A, Superior won Clas B, Hemingford took Clas C. Leigh students earned several Class C placements: Scott Millard won advertising, Diane Neuhaus and Dale Kumpf placed second in editorial writing and yearbook layout, LeRoy Hary took third in yearbook layout. Mary Ann Moser of Humphrey St. Francis finished third in feature writing and third in newswriting.

Schuyler group sets flea market for library fund

The Schuyler ESA forecily will hold its annual flea market April 25 and 26 to raise funds for children's library furniture and the Viola Harris Fund. Individuals may contact Mrs. James Witshusen or Mrs. Rex Lait to arrange article pickup. the sale runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bureaux building both days.
