Mrs Rufina Ellen Hill wife of H C Hill died by hanging at home 818 Chestnut Street. Daughter Emma found the body in the barn loft. Cause of the act unknown though ill health in recent months noted. Dr Rice pronounced death by strangulation. funeral arrangements pending. Mr Hill employed at Cerealine Manufacturing Co Indianapolis was notified and returned home.
A May 9 thunderstorm struck the home of I N Sanders in Evansville Indiana. Lightning hit the roof and eaves then traveled to the parlor where two children played on mandolins. A chair broke, a table toppled, the children were stunned but unharmed. The line sparked a metal clothesline and damaged a nearby stable. Also noted: Alex Hain left for Louisville to take a railroad painting job. The G A R committees and Citizens Ladies committee met yesterday and will depart this morning for Richmond via Indianapolis. At 100 he could shoot a squirrel from a high tree. He was asked about longevity but said he had no receipt and ate and drank as he liked.
The Presbyterian Endeavor Society plans a ten cent social at the YMCA rooms this Friday evening. A pleasant program will be presented and lemonade served. Proceeds will support reading rooms funds for buying clean reading matter for young men.

He displayed a splendid pulpit presence graceful delivery clear enunciation and a personal magnetism that attracted listeners. He spoke extempore from Ephesians chapter three delivering a thoroughly doctrinal sermon with simple forceful language.
Merchant Policeman Burcel found the marble shop between Washington and Franklin streets open last night at about 10 o clock with a key on a ring holding three other keys in the door. He secured the building and left the keys at the office for the owner to claim. The owner later said absent mindedness caused the mishap.
