The case of the State of Indiana v Edward Lewis for the murder of John Williams of Jonesville was called this morning before Squire Dennison and was continued until Wednesday at ten o'clock due to lack of witnesses for the state.
The funeral for Mrs. Oscar Fiegenbaum was held yesterday afternoon at the German Lutheran church and drew a large crowd from across the country. Floral tributes arrived from Cincinnati Indianapolis and local supporters.
Morning readers awoke to a town blanketed in snow as fine flakes fell through the night and into early morning. A Columbus telegram warned of a 21 degree drop, though the cold wave eased, the white whiplash reminded residents that winter remains.
The Republican city committee on February 10 established a delegate convention to nominate candidates for city offices in the May 1898 election. Representation is one delegate per 10 McKinley votes plus one for every fraction over five. Delegates are listed as 13 12 9 56.

The Franklin Star reports Joe Horton was found guilty of assault and battery with intent to kill Albert Dunn of Amity. The 22-year-old defendant faces 2 to 14 years in a reform school, with the verdict delivered after a late evening jury deliberation.
Hon W W Lambert of Columbus announced as candidate for Joint Senator for Bartholemew and Decatur counties. He is a bright young lawyer with favorable local regard. Convention date pending with six teen delegates from the county and fourteen from the county. Columbus to host the gathering with county chairmen handling arrangements. Snow flurries are expected tonight with Tuesday partly cloudy skies and warmer conditions by Tuesday night. The forecast calls for gradual warming as the day progresses with cooler pockets returning later in the week.

Dora Margaret Fischer, born March 17, 1867, married to Oscar Fiegenbaum on September 18, 1891, died leaving a husband, a son, and a daughter. The memorial praises her piety, devotion as a wife and mother, and faith in God, noting the sorrow of her husband and parents and urging others to prepare for the Golden shore.
