Mrs Isaac Emerson of Baltimore appeared before the Appeal Tax Court to show cause why diamonds valued at twenty five thousand dollars should not be assessed. The Emerson mansion near Druid Hill Park was burglarized a month earlier with diamonds stolen then recovered. Judge Hill noted she told a reporter the jewels were worth 25000 while she said her husband gave them and she did not know their value.
Edith Beecher granddaughter of Henry Ward Beecher dies at her father Henry B. Beecher's Brooklyn home. She was 26 and frail. Coroner opens an inquiry into her death while details of related historical fraud cases involving Colonel Beecher and Vincent B. Schenck are noted.
