Mrs. Alvin Koch and Mrs. Gertrude Schroeder will represent Monroe County at a Vandalia workshop January 25-26 focusing on creative stitching and printing. Stitching topics include embroidery floss yarn thread string raffia and wire while printing covers block printing and silk screening using oil base ink on linoleum glass paper and cloth. Additional Leaders Training School on stitching and painting is planned for late February.

40 Years With Union Electric and Roderique Buatte
Roderique B Buatte of 216 South Columbia Ave marked his fortieth service anniversary with Union Electric this month. He began as a laborer in 1927 at the Cahokia power plant and rose through roles including junior oiler assistant auxiliary operator and first auxiliary operator. In 1948 he became turbine operator and in 1958 was named senior turbine and auxiliary operator.

Desirable Weight Steers Show Gains as Hogs Decline
