Cub Scouts Honor Hard Work at January Pack Meeting
The Columbia Cub Scouts held their January Pack meeting January 26 in the Unit Building of Columbia Public School. Cubmaster Aloys Riebeling announced a new Den Mother Mrs Orville Nobbe and that scouts will wear uniforms to school February 8 and attend church as a group February 12. Den 9 won the attendance plaque while 21 boys earned 31 Achievement Awards from Awards Chairman Robert L Tunze. Awards included Bobcat Pins, Wolf and Bear Badges with Gold Arrows, Lions and Silver Arrows, and Webelos Den inductees. Mark Crosley Mike Schlemmer Kenneth Breitenstein led graduates to Boy Scouts. The next pack meeting is the Blue and Gold Banquet on February 19 at 4 45 p.m.

Two Hurt In Route 3 North Main Intersection Collision
Two women were injured and taken to St Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville after a two car crash at the Route 3 and North Main intersection around 8 40 p m Sunday January 29. Lt Walter Riebeling of the Columbia Police Department said a 1961 Plymouth Station Wagon driven by John Clark of St Louis headed north on Route 3 struck a 1959 Plymouth Station Wagon driven by Robert Waidman of Bluffton Ohio as the latter attempted a right turn onto Route 3. Both cars sustained heavy damage.
