Trials compared plowing to depths of 9, 18, 27 and 36 inches with topsoil and subsoil mixed, but yields remained similar. New trenching and organic matter in four inch by four foot holes show root growth depth potential, with walnut and corn trials planned by the US Forest Service unit.
