The Institute welcomes new arrivals as eight or more young ladies enter to begin schooling. Claudia Carvell Daisy Figuers Evelyn Short Lannie Woods Lillian McKenzie Catherine Foot and Willie Miller join from Arkansas Tennessee and Mississippi. Mrs Goodman and Mrs Foot accompany daughters for enrollment while Mrs Eugene Everett returns home after visiting to place her daughter Eugenia Everett in the program.
Fans in Maury celebrate the Volunteers after they clinched the Southern League pennant at Sulphur Springs Park in Nashville. The final game was reported in detail and the telegraph office buzzed with eager updates as the champion was announced.
A second fire within twelve hours hit the home of Joe Dillehay on Twelfth Street in South Columbia. The kitchen and much of the house were destroyed, furniture lost, and the residence owned by Lal Sprowif was insured for 760 dollars with Hendley Frierson Cochran.

Ray Hadley and Thad Williams claim to own the world’s most intelligent turtle. The pet vanished after a missed two day handoff and was found crawling back toward its home tub in the Hadley backyard, a distance over a block, suggesting it remembered the date. The boys had planned alternating custody.
The Maury County Teachers Association will meet Saturday in the Circuit Court room for a full briefing on a new reading course. Attendees should bring copies and review the first chapter of Hewett's Pedagogy and Brigham's Geographic Influence in American History for primary teachers and McMurray's General Method of the Recitation and Tappan's England and America's Literature for secondary teachers. Spring Hill Tenn Sept 22 The football fever is in the air as Branham Hughes coach Hobson conducts practice on Campbell Field. Many former players return and prospects for a strong season look bright. No games have been scheduled yet as two squads prepare for scrimmage and defense offense lessons. The outlook is for a winning season.

The Columbia Institute opened on the third day after a three day classification, with Miss Hamill preparing to organize basketball and tennis teams next week. Miss Lily Hughes won Frank G. Cook's steel range in the Let Em Go Sale, with two near guesses and a final prize of sixty dollars.
