Cotton crop acreage and conditions across the South
MEMPHIS June 1 The State Presidents of the Farmers Union report total cotton planted by March 10 stood at 28 352 000 acres versus 31 713 000 in 1907. Reports from cotton states show a generally unsatisfactory stand with flooding retarding growth. Replanting seems impracticable on submerged lands and ginning of cotton in September appears unlikely if damage continues.
