Stole $65 Now in Jail Henry Hall Case Detained

Henry Hall colored was lodged in jail Sunday after entering a mine owner’s room while asleep and stealing 65 dollars. He stole from Mr J B Ragen of Harlan’s mines, with Deputy Goad notified and searching streets. Hall asked to visit a friend in jail, was granted, then later frightened when placed in a cell. Twenty dollars recovered.

The Moore Institute faculty for the next term includes Principal J P Graham and assistants Miss Fannie Alford and Lutre Lemlinson. The just-concluded term was not very successful, but the outlook for the coming year is most promising.

Nashville Interurban plea to extend start date and allow gasoline electric railcars

At a Nashville city council meeting Judge John A. Pitté and K T McConnico urged a bill amendment to grant franchises to the Nashville Interurban Railway Company for a Columbia to Gallatin line via Nashville. The proposal extends start of construction from February 1 to November 1 and allows gasoline motor cars or electric trolleys or a mix. They cited reduced operating costs and new interurban methods, requesting two interim meetings before the next regular session to push final action.

Election in New Tenth and old Eighth districts

Saturday's election in the New Tenth and the old Eighth districts passed without incident. In the Tenth, Spencer Kittel was elected constable by 14 votes, with Le Tayconstable and other races noted. Cow killed after attack by youths. owner refused offer

Esq George W Hara owned a fine cow valued at $100 that was badly injured Thursday. Two boys were arrested on charges of exceeding. The cow likely died after being struck and mauled, with conflicting statements about the cause behind a fence gap and possible blunt impact.
