Sage of Troy Nears End as Feeble Director Clings to Fees

Longtime mogul Russell Sage, near 90, sits home at 632 Fifth Avenue amid senile decline. He remains sharp on pay days, pressing for $10 director fees from boards he rarely attends while his secretary and brother in law manage his affairs. Sage, once mighty with rail, telegraph, and finance ventures, is said to be worth hundreds of millions but lives frugally, with minimal personal outlay and a guarded, possibly unwritten will.
