Nashville July 7 FLEM THOMAS trustee Maury county and B E Fry trustee Benton county raced to settle with the state treasurer. Thomas beat Fry by about forty minutes becoming the first pair of trustees in Tennessee to settle. Maury reached at 12:50 and Benton at 1:26. Also announced is a new Apiary exhibit at Maury county fair featuring comb and extracted honey products organized by G N McKennon with cooperation from J M Davis of Spring Hill and bee-culture talks.

Heavy verdict in damage suit in Maury county
The Maury County Circuit Court awarded $19,000 in damages to Mrs Iva Lavender in a suit against L N S and N railroad over the death of her husband John Lavender a brakeman killed while climbing between a caboose and a box car near Columbus The case had been on trial for a week and a motion for a new trial is expected. The clerk also received settlement of several state cases and repair bills for distribution to entitled parties.

Everett Barn Fire Destroys Farm Structure
A barn on the Everett farm four miles from Mt Pleasant was destroyed by fire on Sunday night along with about 6100 worth of hay and corn. Some threshers reportedly slept in the barn Thursday night, with a theory that matches were involved. The barn was valued around three hundred dollars with no insurance listed.
