Chris and Nick Toepfer volunteer as EMTs in Colfax, balancing jobs and school. Nick joined as a high school Explorer and both take part in ongoing training under CDF supervision. The pair respond to hundreds of calls annually and plan firefighting careers, while the department seeks funds and volunteers for equipment and station upgrades.
